I have 3 words to describe this shoot: wet, dedicated, tough.
This was the first time at this range. It was so much fun! I can't believe how much everyone improved. We had one or two folks that had never fired a rifle and were shooting one hole, 5 shot groups by mid morning on Day 2 (and clearing red coat targets).
Thank goodness for all the canopies, otherwise EVERYTHING and EVERYONE would have been wet.
Kristy D. set the bar high by clearing the first redcoat target. Then we learned some history and the fundamentals of marksmanship. Kristy D. and Alan B. cleared the redcoat target Saturday Afternoon.
After a review of what we had covered on Day one, Donna D. and Alan B cleared the Sunday morning redcoat. We then learned some more marksmanship skills and drills (and some great history, too). By the end of Day 2, we had two folks clear the redcoat target (no names gathered due to rain-soaked paper...raise your hand if you cleared it...Bob S. was one of them). We also had 4 new riflemen (3 of which were first time Appleseeders!!!!!): Hannah C. and Alan B. tied for high score at 229, Bob S. Scored 227, Tedbo W. scored 219 and 221. Hannah C. (forum name TBD) grabbed a bucket to bail and is now an instructor in training (that orange hat looks nice on you). HUZZAH! HUZZAH! HUZZAH!
I want to thank all the students for their toughness (Hannah C. scored rifleman without being under the canopy...talk about Rifleman's bubble) and commitment. I also want to thank all the instructors. I couldn't have done it without any of you!!!
Please post pictures if you have them.
Huzzah! What an amazing event! If the phrase "A Rifleman is Persistent" was ever embodied, it was at this event! Congratulations to everyone who turned out and especially those who toughed it out through the sometimes heavy precipitation.
There were several shooters who were knocking on the door despite the poor conditions. There were teachable attitudes all around. Even shooters who were obviously experienced were open to suggestions and critique. To volunteer for this event was a joy.
Huzzahs for the Riflemen: Hannah, Alan, Bob, Tedbo!
In Liberty!

Thanks to all the instructors there and thanks for the pictures. I'm Bob S.
It was definitely something I'll remember and I hope to be at future events, maybe less rain next time!
I was one of the 2 that cleared the red coat there at the very end, persistence!
Thanks to Booney Stomper for holding up my targets for a quick picture: https://i.imgur.com/FmUnN6P.jpg
Donna sent me some photos.
