Project Appleseed returned to the Walker County Sheriff's Office Range for the fourth time this year to spread the message of Liberty. Many thanks to the Sheriff's Department for allowing us the opportunity for another shoot at their outstanding range!
The weather was gloomy and threatening rain, but our shooters were undeterred – they were all first-time Appleseeders! We had four cadets from Marion Military Institute who want to start a marksmanship program at the school and came to Appleseed to learn how to safely run a firing line.

We began with the First Strike of the Match and the events at Lexington Green. After the Safety Briefing, we started with thirteen shots at the Hits Count Target and quickly realized we had some ringers hiding behind their first shoot status!
We covered sling use, the Six Steps of Firing the Shot, and Natural Point of Aim, then tied it all together with the prone position.

Shooters practiced every new skill and shooting improved while we shot squares. We heard about the battle of Concord during the Second Strike, then adjusted sights using IMC. We continued drills and practice, then took a break for the Third Strike and the final events of April 19, 1775. We shot our first AQT, and ringers Alex and Matt became Riflemen with scores of 221 and 212!

Several others were close but impending rain and darkness convinced the shooters to finish up with another Hits Count and call it a day.
Sunday morning brought a little rain and more history, then it was time for a quick review and back to drills and marksmanship instruction! After lunch and a presentation on Known Distance the shooters got a chance to practice at 100 yards and all had a great time!

We returned to the 25M line to adjust scopes and shoot more AQTs. Walter quickly qualified with a score of 216!

Another big thank you for the Walker County Sheriff's Department for hosting us; we look forward to coming back next year!
Shooters, remember the brave men and women who fought for the Liberty we enjoy today and the cost of their efforts. Let's honor that sacrifice by preserving Liberty for our posterity as well. I hope to see you at another Appleseed soon, and bring friends!
Huzzah, it was a great weekend indeed!
Had a great time, was not expecting to score rifleman on the first AQT but I credit the great instruction from the team! Huzzah indeed!
