Toy Lee Jones (Kardiak kid) passed earlier this week, below is his obituary. I know he would be pleased to have part of his Appleseed family at his visitation or services.
Obituary for Toy Lee Jones, Jr.
Toy Lee Jones, Jr., age 71, of The Villages, Florida, passed away on October 22, 2024. He is survived by his son, Justin Jones; his sisters, E. Maria Jones and Jennifer Maier (Jim); and a loving community of family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Toy Lee Jones, Sr. and Dorothy Eunice Davis.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Toy served as an in-flight navigator during the Iran Raid in early 1980 under President Jimmy Carter, exemplifying bravery and commitment to his country. His dedication to service continued in his community, where he was honored to serve as a member and past Master for the Hamlet, North Carolina Masonic Lodge #532.
After his military service, Toy worked for Electronic Service Corporation and later served as a Radio Engineer II for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, where his technical expertise made a significant impact. He also found fulfillment as a Marksman Instructor and Range Safety Officer for North Carolina's Project Appleseed, sharing his passion for shooting sports and teaching others the importance of safety and skill.
Toy enjoyed time spent with his companion, Cynthia Martel. He relished time on the golf course with friends. And, as a third-degree black belt, Toy was a proud member of The Villages Karate for Life Club, practicing traditional Okinawa styles. A karate instructor in his youth, he instilled discipline and confidence in many students, sharing his love for martial arts with others. Toy loved the friendships forged through golf and karate and the joy it brought him. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, love of camaraderie, and his knack for telling jokes that brought laughter to those around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Toy on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Seabreeze Recreation Center in The Villages, Florida, from 11 am to noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Villages Honor Flight Network or the Wounded Warrior Project.
May Heaven welcome Toy with open arms.
Rest in Piece my friend.
You taught me, and others, much that I will never forget. I will miss you often and look forward to our meeting in the next world.
Rest well Patriot, you High Son of Liberty!
Toy was a fixture on the firing line in Ramseur for many years. I remember him being incredibly fast reloading a 1917 revolver and showing up to field shoots with interesting surplus rifles. We will miss him.
Rest well Brother.
