Another great weekend at TCSC in the books! 4 students made the pilgrimage out to the range and had perfect conditions to be on the line for this two day pistol event on this beautiful weekend in Oct.
The morning's hits count target showed that there was skill present, but we also had some work to do. That said, Clint had a score to settle with Pitcairn's button - and he started the morning off right and cleared the first hits count target of the day! The class stayed attentive and soaked up all points of instruction throughout the morning, despite some challenging distractions. After our morning of instruction and drills, Off_paper presented a superb telling of the first and second strike to which the students were very attentive and asked plenty of questions, despite having a USPSA match happening in the other pistol bays.
The afternoon's instruction was well received, and we even had time to cover the third strike. We were able to fit in some PQT action in the afternoon, which had a few VERY close scores. Afterward, we snuck in our final redcoat of the day, but Pitcairn's button proved elusive to all.
Sunday started promptly on time, with everyone excited to get started on day 2. Yours truly provided an Onion of Self defense interactive Q&A, along with Sam and Sam being told in between drills and PQTs.
Great progress was made by all students present. Lisa started the event as a new shooter, but came out of the event with plenty of experience and confidence! She also improved her scores SIGNIFICANTLY by the end of the weekend! That's a true testament to her dedication and fortitude towards learning.
Clint, a repeat student of mine, brought different gear to the line this time in pursuit of that elusive patch. He was incredibly persistent throughout the weekend with scores in the low 200s, but was able to clench the coveted patch with a 220, running a 9mm with irons!
Kyle, a repeat Appleseeder yet a new Pistol Clinic student, persevered through the challenging weekend and also scored a 220! Kyle then went on to immediately requalify with a 218...talk about consistency!
Ed (one of our illustrious Blue Hats) wanted to qualify with God's Caliber, so naturally he was running a 1911 with a red dot. While the patch proved elusive, his scores were impressive (and they were very easy to score with the size of the holes that a .45 leaves on the target)!
Each and every one of you made great progress throughout the weekend! The Big Dot Little Dot Challenge was a big hit, with Clint taking the overall best score with a centerfire and Kyle taking the overall best score with a rimfire. Good job gentlemen!
The last chance at Pitcairn's button proved elusive to all except for Kyle, who cleared the hits count target with ease! Despite the challenges presented throughout the weekend, all the students ended the class on a positive note. As I said earlier, I couldn't be more proud of the progress made by each and every one of you.
I highly encourage you all to practice what you learned with both live and dry fire. Working under the pressure of the clock is something that some practice can also overcome.
