Fourteen shooters attended the 2nd Project Appleseed Pistol Clinic of 2024 hosted by the Walker County Sheriff's Department on 19 Oct 24. The weather was perfect; the shooters weren't sure if the Sheriff's Dept. had anything to do with the weather but all agreed the range was a great location for Appleseed. Many thanks to the Department for their continued support for Project Appleseed!
The first Hits Count target let the instructors know we were in for a good day as shooters demonstrated great pistol handling skills and marksmanship. The shooting just got better as the day progressed, and we knew there would be new Pistoleer™™™™™s before the day was complete!

Shooters all had great attitudes and were willing to try new things. Ivory first fired a gun the day before and will be a Pistoleer™™™™™ soon! Sarah learned she was left-eye dominant and experimented with her left as the strong hand; she did well either way. They will both be back for another Appleseed and expressed interest in 25M events as well.

It was back to shooting after a rousing Second Strike from GTEngineer and we quickly got our first Pistoleer™™™™™ score of the day when Major Tom requalified on the first PQT. The highlight of the day happened when Alex re-qualified for the first time with a centerfire pistol. He experienced some ammo related problems but held on to finish strong with a score of 210. You know what happened next....

Major Tom continued to chase the perfect 250 score but the best he could do before the day ended was a lowly 247. Congratulations, Major Tom! I think he was happier about Alex's score, but am pretty sure only everyone else on the line noticed...

The instructors all commented on the great student attitudes and safe pistol handling. We look forward to seeing everyone on the line(s) again!
