We had the perfect weather weekend for heritage and marksmanship. We had 14 students including 2 father son groups, and one mother, father and son group.  We opened with the first strike and safety briefing and proceeded to the hits count target.  We went through the instruction and just before lunch we had a Brown Bess live fire demonstration from Paul P. complete in period clothes.  The students were very engaged and asked some great questions.  We continued and completed two AQTs on Saturday.  Matt and Aksel showed improvement.  Clyde was knocking on the door. Congratulations to Clint scoring a 215 on his first AQT at his first Appleseed and followed it up with a 223 on the second.  Congratulations to Al re-qualifying with a 234. Mixed in we heard the second and third strikes. we closed out with the hits count target and went from 2 shingles in the morning to 9 in the afternoon.

Sunday morning was very chilly but as soon as the sun hit the range it was another perfect day. We reviewed the Saturday instruction and proceeded with the AQT followed by a drill cycle. Ethan hung in there and was working hard. Benjamin kept at it and had a high of a 96 on stage 4, great job. We were able to mint another two new riflemen.  Congratulations to Nicki with a 235 and congratulations to her son, Zachery, with a 210.  Dad Zak got in on the action and re-qualified with 226. Al continued his great shooting and earned the distinguished rifle score with a 240.  Brent also re-qualified with tech sights with a 220.  Stacey wanted in on the action and re-qualified with 221.  Bridget rose to the occasion and posted a 219.  With all these scores and patches being awarded, the instructors didn't want to be left out.  RangeDog (high of 242) NightPoison (high of 235), MattNH (235), KevinNH (high of 219), and mmirate (212) all re-qualified. We closed out with shooting at 100 yards and the KD topics were directly observed.

In summary we had 3 new Rifleman and 10 re-qualifications. Lastly, LadyRimfire (Nicki), AC/RSO from NY, earned her patch and has stepped up so her hat has changed color from blue to orange. Congratulations and thank you for stepping up and continuing your journey with Appleseed.
