Title: Quarryville, PA AAR , Oct 12/13, 2024 – Rifle Clinic

Special thanks to the Southern Lancaster County Farmers Sportsmen's Assn. for hosting us yet again.  They were very helpful in all aspects of getting ready for two days of an Appleseed Rifle Clinic.  They have invited us back there again next year, and we are in the process of setting the schedule.  And Carlo even served us breakfast on Sunday!  (Well it was a club fundraiser, but we were invited.)

The weather was great both days (sunny!), and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend of marksmanship and heritage!  The shooters all persevered through the firehose of instruction and greatly improved as the weekend progressed.  We worked through the day proceeding from demonstration to dry fire practice to live fire confirmation of our marksmanship instruction, combined with history and heritage.  A few equipment issues were quickly corrected by the knowledgeable staff.  Everyone was very receptive to the course of instruction.  History and heritage were well received and there were some great discussions.

Three shooters could not return on Sunday, but after a hearty breakfast, we worked through more instruction and AQT's, and all showed great improvement as the day progressed. Everyone had the process down pretty well and we proceeded at a good pace. The Time Monkey stayed off our backs, and several AQT's were shot.  There was also a team challenge, with the Old Crew vs. the Instructors vs. the Zimmerman's.  It wasn't even close – the Zimmerman's scored more points than the two other groups combined!

The shooters showed those pesky Redcoats the strength of our cause on both the AQT and Hits Count Targets, and we have two new Riflemen to add to our cadre – Tom and Danielle (who got it on the last AQT)!  Huzza!  Four other Riflemen requalified, and three cleared the Redcoat target, with Jessee doing it sitting!  Huzza!

We also have a new Orange Hat to add to our cadre!  Tom, who stepped up to begin his Appleseed instructor journey.  And two new Blue Hats – Danielle and Kaydence.  Thanks, and welcome aboard!

Thanks to all the shooters, instructors and the Southern Lancaster County Farmers Sportsmen's Assn.  for a great weekend.

Congrats to Bruce on his Red Hat!  Pleasure to help Yates and the PA crew.  Awesome weather, good shooting, and great to meet new friends. Hope to make it up again, but don't forget to say hi if you make it down to the Annapolis, Maryland area.
