Thank you to Air Capital Gun Club of Whitewater Kansas for hosting our October rifle clinic again this year.
Kansas weather proved itself to be unpredictable yet again. Saturday came with clear skies and temps in the mid 90's and high humidity. Nothing a little shade can't take care of except for the 20–30mph wind preventing us from using canopies. We made it through with a lot of hydration and taking care of each other. Sunday was better in the low to mid 80's and several canopies were utilized on the equipment line.
Thirty-one participants joined together to learn marksmanship and to hear history of the founders on April 19th, 1775. Of those 31, fifteen were first time Appleseed attendees and eleven (35%) were under the age of 17.
Six first time Riflemen were minted and another seven requalified after previously qualifying. Several others were mere points away from qualifying and will succeed with a little more practice.
Congratulations to Jason, Brynn, Atlyn, John, Skelly and Patrick for breaking into the Rifleman ranks. Good job to Drew, Morris, Barb, Harry, Buck, Dusty and Ronnie for requalifying as Rifleman. Great job to a couple shooters who broke into the 230's for scores.
If you did not achieve your goals from this event, remember to practice the techniques learned at home. Dry fire practice is the easiest and cheapest way to continue to improve marksmanship skills. Come back to another event and then show off your improved skills.
It was a great time and you did an awesome job as an SBIT 3 to earn your green hat! It used to be easy for me to claim the title of best shoot boss in Kansas. I think that title is in danger of moving now!
No danger. It's never been a competition....
