Title: River Falls, WI AAR - October 5-6, 2024
Post by: miara on October 06, 2024, 11:34:46 PM
For being October, it was a beautiful weekend in River Falls, WI at the River Falls Sportsmen's Club.  Saturday was 80 & sunny and Sunday was 60 and a bit chilly with the cold wind.  The change in the weather overnight did bring some challenges Sunday, but all overcame and much improvements occurred.

We had 8 participants on Saturday and 7 on Sunday in which there was only 1 first timer (Gavin), who made Rifleman on Sunday with a score of 212, who is 17 years old.  Another 17 year old, Isaac, requalified on Saturday, but on Sunday beat his score with a 247 earing a distinguished badge, using a bolt action.  Scott also requalified with a 218 and so did Dan with a 219.  Aniah (16 years old) got her best score ever of 197, Kea'Vont (16 years old) also made huge improvements with a score of 181, and Adam who did not hit 100 on Saturday got to 182 on Sunday.  Those that did not get Rifleman are so close and if they keep up the hard work and practice over the winter, they will get it.  So, proud of all the shooters for overcoming many obstacles and improving not only as Rifleman, but also as Americans!

Many thanks and appreciation to fellow instructors Blisterpack, Curmudgeon Mindset, MN Ward, and Taylor for a wonderful job this weekend!  We all worked well as a team and had each other's back and lifted each other up when it was needed.  Curmudgeon Mindset completed his final IIT checklist and was promoted to a red hat.  Blisterpack struggled on Saturday, but Sunday nailed it and promoted to IIT3.  MN Ward helped wherever and spent some time shooting Sunday & did requalify.  There are not enough thanks in the world for everything that Taylor has done for Miara to help her get to Shoot Boss, which she did accomplish.  Great job everyone on such amazing teamwork and support of each other!

Finally, not enough thanks can be given to the River Falls Sportsmen's Club for allowing us to use the range and for all their support for Project Appleseed.

There are currently no shoots scheduled right now in the area due to winter coming, but watch the website for updates at https://appleseedinfo.org/schedulemap/

Pictures coming up.
