Douglas Ridge Rifle Club was a gracious host for the first Appleseed at their range this year.  We had a great late summer weekend for rifle marksmanship and for the inspiration of hearts and minds of Americans.

The students came prepared for the event and were ready to improve their marksmanship skills.  The students were very attentive to the instruction and did a great job implementing what they learned.   The group sizes quickly showed great improvement and this lead to high scores on the Appleseed Qualification Tests.

Congratulations to Zach, Keith, Koji, Dimitri, Toni and Mavin on earning their Rifleman's patches.  Huzzah, Huzzah.  In addition; Earl, Troy, Ryan and Craig requalified their Rifleman scores.  Ryan has been chasing his Distinguished Rifleman patch and on the last AQT of Sunday, he shot a 240 point AQT.  Nice display of marksmanship and persistence.

If you did not achieve your goals from this event, remember to practice the techniques learned at home.  Dry practice is the easiest and cheapest way to continue to improve marksmanship skills.  The laser pointer that was on the demo rifle is one of the best marksmanship training aids.  The laser will help perfect your steady hold factors, 6 steps to firing the shot and NPOA shifts.   Place a target across the living room and on the comfort of the carpet, practice these techniques.  Come back to another event and then show off your improved skills.

Project Appleseed is in the process of rebuilding the instructor corp in Oregon.  I would like to thank the Seattle based instructors for traveling to this event to provide their high level of professional caliber instruction.  Also, thanks Booga for working the event this last weekend.  One retired instructor, Bandaid, asked to be reinstated so he could help in the rebuilding process.  Also, two shooter expressed interest in becoming instructors and want to start the Instructor in Training program.

I am looking forward to seeing each one of you at another Appleseed event.

What a great group of shooters and instructors! My son is definitely amped up... shooting that 206 lit a fire in him! He was also intrigued by the history, and asked questions the entire way home. (He's heard me practice it and tell him, but it's "different" coming from someone else!) Thanks to Ian, Eric, Griff, Booga, and the rest of y'all! It re-lit the fire in me too!
