Special thanks to the Greater Pittsburgh Gun Club for hosting us yet again. They were very helpful in all aspects of getting ready for two days of an Appleseed Rifle Clinic. We will certainly be back there again next year.
The weather was not terribly cooperative, and it drizzled off and on both days, but we couldn't have asked for a better weekend of marksmanship and heritage! The shooters all persevered through the firehose of instruction and greatly improved as the weekend progressed. We worked through the day proceeding from demonstration to dry fire practice to live fire confirmation of our marksmanship instruction, combined with history and heritage. A few equipment fitting issues were quickly corrected, and loaner rifles were used where necessary. Everyone was very receptive to the course of instruction. History and heritage were well received and there were some great discussions.
Everyone returned on Saturday (as this was a Friday/Saturday event), though some had to leave early, and we had one new shooter on Saturday. We worked through more instruction and AQT's, and all showed great improvement as the day progressed. Everyone had the process down pretty well and we proceeded at a good pace. The Time Monkey stayed off our backs, and several AQT's were shot.
The shooters showed those pesky Redcoats the strength of our cause on both the AQT and Hits Count Targets, and we have one new Rifleman to add to our cadre, TJ, with a 216. And one shooter cleared the Hits Count Target, twice – the youngest of the group, Ethan! Huzza!
We also have a new Orange Hat and a new Blue Hat to add to our cadre! TJ, who stepped up to begin his Appleseed instructor journey as an Orange Hat, and Hope who helped out with administration and took a Blue Hat. Thanks, and welcome aboard!
Thanks to all the shooters and the Greater Pittsburgh Gun Club for a great weekend.
Congratulations to all!!
Huzzah!
