Title: Hernando FL AAR 31 Aug 2024
Post by: gunjunkie on September 03, 2024, 09:54:08 PM
This was a great weekend for liberty filled with marksmanship and history. We had 8 very committed patriots on the line, each one braved brutal temperatures and humidity to be part of Hernando Sportsman's Clubs inaugural 200 Yard Rimfire KD.
Having only one day we jumped quickly into the classroom instruction and moved on to putting this new found knowledge to the test. We started with our 50 yard zero and recording our DOPE, dry fire Standing practice and shooting stage one. Moving quickly to the 100 yard line, refining our come-ups, recording the data and completing a dry run for the transition stage. Mid day we broke for lunch, a much needed break from the sun and some very well presented history covering the battle of Kings Mountain and the battle of the Cowpens. P Henry presented his very moving rendition of both battles and the pivotal role rifleman played in securing victory.
We did have one shooter throw in the towel after stage two due to heat and retreated to the cover out of the sun, did I mention it was HOT.
After completing stages three and four most of the shooters were spent, we did have two brave souls determined to earn the patch step forward for round two.
The day ended with one requal and three newly qualified KD rifleman. Nathan scored a 220 while Rick scored a 210, he was bathed in North Bridge water. David one of the brave ones turned in a most impressive 244.
I want to thank Hernando Sportsman's Club for hosting this event and their continued support of Appleseed.
A big thanks to the instructors, P Henry, Just Kim and Stoneknives, without you this could not happen.
Thanks to all that attended, it was an honor being your shoot boss.

The heat was brutal, but the spirit was indeed fine. My hat's off to the shooters who showed up and delivered.
In Liberty,
