I go on walks almost daily and often listen to audio books. I just finished a really good one that was actually up on YouTube for free and I think up everyone's alley here. The book is an autobiography of an actual Revolutionary War soldier. It isn't about some high-ranking officer, just an average soldier. And it is really neat to hear it from that perspective. You may tell from the title that the trials and tribulations they went through were truly harrowing and can not be over-exaggerated. Links below.
"A Narrative of a Revolutionary Soldier: Some Adventures, Dangers, and Sufferings of Joseph Plumb Martin"
by Joseph Plumb MartinHere is the link to the audio book on YouTube. It is Librovox/public domain.

Thanks. First person narrative from somebody in the trenches is best to me.
Never much been a fan of the wide ranging books written from the viewpoint of a General or some such person.
I stumbled across Martin's memoir in a bookstore several years back. I second the recommendation.
Thank you for sharing this. I'm going to give it a listen.
