Title: Hot Springs, AR - AAR - July 12, 2024 - Pistol Clinic
Post by: bright1 on July 18, 2024, 08:46:13 PM
Three shooters came out on the morning of July 12, 2024 at MVSA in Hot Springs, Arkansas to improve their pistol skills. The weather was typical for July in Arkansas – that would be hot!  And humid! However, plenty of pop-ups for shade and large fans helped keep everyone as cool as was possible.  And plenty of water kept everyone hydrated.  After check-in and the safety briefing, pistols were brought to the line and cleared.  Soon thereafter, the Hits Count target was engaged.  Instruction and drills were the next order of business for the morning.  At lunch, the Three Strikes of The Match were told.  After lunch it was back to the firing line where we ran a few more drills before beginning the PQT's.  The end of the day saw one more Hits Count target shot, with the results indicating that progress had been made in the betterment of marksmanship over the course of the day.
This day, everyone brought an eagerness to learn, positive and can-do attitudes that resulted in continuous improvements made by all throughout the day, despite the heat.  While there were no new Pistoleer™ patches handed out, there were re-qualifications by Stephen, one of the students, and several of the instructors.  In addition to the Arkansas instructor crew of Buddy Love, Moto Man and myself, we had the pleasure of having Tennessee Beast making the trip over.  His help & expertise was much appreciated! As for our students – two were first time attendees to an Appleseed event.  Ben came for the Friday pistol clinic only while David stayed over for the rifle clinic on Saturday & Sunday. Both did terrific!  Stephen, who attended both the pistol & rifle clinics, has been to several Appleseed's with this being his second pistol clinic.  I anticipate seeing all of them at future events.
Everyone in attendance really helped to make this clinic Safe, Fun & Successful!
Finally, a shout out to MVSA for the use of their range and their continuing support of the Appleseed program.  Huzzah!
