Our thanks to Hobbs Island Shooting Range for welcoming Project Appleseed for another great 25M event!

One shooter was forced to cancel, and another didn't make it, leaving us with only one shooter on Saturday.  David had been in contact with the SC for a few weeks asking questions about attending the shoot as a spectator and finally decided to join us, despite the extreme heat we were all expecting.  Huzzah, David!

David purchased a 10/22 but couldn't get it fitted for a sling so accepted a loaner rifle.  He shot the Hits Count target from a modified seated position, and then after morning instruction fired his first ever shots from the prone position!  His initial results were good and quickly got better over the day.

David returned on Sunday despite the intense heat and was joined by James, a previous Appleseeder chasing the coveted Rifleman patch.  After the morning review we got back to shooting.  David learned a lot from the Ball and Dummy Drill, while James continued to display his Orange Hat potential!  Unfortunately, it was soon obvious the heat was taking its toll.  Following the KD presentation, David decided he had done all he could safely do.  An instructor worked on David's rifle, getting the scope focused and the rifle zeroed while James shot another AQT.  Both shooters then wisely decided to call it a day.

David really enjoyed the history and was very happy with everything he learned.  He promised to return for another event this fall.  James will be back as he pursues his Rifleman Patch, and I'm sure there will be an orange Hat offered with it!
