I would like to thank all the Patriots who showed up to the Parma Rod and Gun Club for the June event. The crowd was a little smaller than usual, but the hearts and minds of the participants were filled with Liberty.
All of the shooter came with previous rifle shooting experience, and put on a good display of their marksmanship skills. While only one shooter earned their first rifleman patch, Curt did it with Tech Sights. He was the only shooter using irons sights and learned the necessity of focusing on the front sight. Once that skill was perfected, he skillfully shot a 219 and earned his patch.
Four shooter requalified their rifleman scores. Congratulations to Kristopher, Tim, Gus and Shane. Shane shot his requalification scores with a bolt action .17HMR. Tony earned his distinguished patch with a 244, but Gus earned high score honors with a 246.
At one time in the weekend, I expected every participant to earn their rifleman patch. However, stage 4 continued to be the hurdle that prevented most people from achieving their 210 point score. Too many times, people were fussing their shots on stage 4 instead of shooting it like rifleman. On one AQT, we told Curt he would only get 1 minute to shoot stage 4, and guess what, that was the AQT he shot is rifleman score.
You need to learn to trust NPOA. Find your NPOA, then verify it. Once you are on target, shoot in rifleman cadence. Your accuracy will improve this way, as I also had to learn that lesson the hard way. I finally earned my rifleman patch and KD Centerfire patch by learning to trust NPOA and fire the shots like a rifleman.
Remember that persistence is a characteristic of the rifleman. Practice the skills you learned on the comfort of your living room carpet and come back to another event and show off your skills.
