Appleseed returned after a two-year break to the Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club in Orlando for a traditional 25M Rifle event May 18-19. Seven students arrived ready to learn on Saturday. It was a mix of one lady, one junior, several experienced, and some new shooters. Sunday five returned. One was called to pilot an airplane and the junior had other plans to celebrate his twelfth birthday. Our birthday boy, Liam shot a 127 Marksman score at his first-ever shooting experience. Dale shot 169. Just one point shy of Sharpshooter. If he had been able to turn Sunday it's evident he would have scored Rifleman.
All the shooters returning Sunday scored and earned a Rifleman patch for the first time. Three of them (Jack, Ryan, and Katie) cleared the Redcoat target. Larry was the most improved score starting at 77 with a high score of 214. Ryan shot a 219 with iron sights. Yaman shot 233 with a red dot sight. Jack scored 215 and Katie 211. This is the best performance I can recall seeing. Congratulations Shooters! Huzzah!
MAJmorgan took an Orange Hat and worked his first event. floridanick was promoted to IIT1 and Trident completed his Instructor Progress Check. We properly retired his Orange Hat and christened his new Red Hat with North Bridge water. The instructor team was outstanding. Their efforts show in the success of the students.
We look forward to more events at CFRPC in the coming months. An Appleseed Pistol Clinic is already sold out in June. Two more rifle clinics are in the works for October and December and possibly a 200-yard Rimfire KD early in 2025. Big thank you to CFRPC for allowing us to present our events at their awesome range!
