Title: Denver, CO Pistol IBC May, 17 - 18 2024
Post by: ScubaSteve on May 21, 2024, 09:58:19 AM
This was days 2 and 3 of 4 days of Appleseed. These two days were a pistol IBC. We spent day one at the clubhouse of Skyline Hunting and Fishing club. What a great venue. I understand it is 55,000 acers of land. They are strong supporters of Appleseed and we cant thank them enough.

Day one started with Appleseed mission and guidelines. Basically, what are we all about and why are we here? We covered everything from proper attire at an event to ill effects of letting our ego get the best of us. As we worked through the day we worked on our pistol skills. Safety rules, six steps, and all the demos related to pistol shooting.  After each demo by our newly minted Charter Pistol instructors we broke out into small groups and worked on the demos with each instructor. It was a long day but we ended at 5 and made our way out to dinner.

Day two....

Day two the clubhouse was booked with another group so we moved down to the pistol house for our classroom work.  On the drive in we saw a heard of Elk grazing on the berm, note the berm is a mountain. :)

We started on our reviews. Everything learned from day one was reviewed by each instructor. In some cases we stopped and discussed the instruction to better understand the details and the "why" of the instruction.
During lunch we all presented a small history blocks. Many topics not normally presented at an event were discussed and they were all great presentations.

Our day was interrupted by the Elk. The Shootboss is from Florida so seeing a heard of elk is not normal for him. He had to stop the event a take some pictures when they came down from the mountain to say hi.

We ended our event a little after 3pm. It was a long day and we were tired. As the event was over a few of the instructors wanted to shoot. We were at the range so why not. We did a quick set up and shot for about 45 min. One of our folks that was chasing a Pistoleer™™ score made score that afternoon. Congrats Scott.

Keep in mind this was days 2 and 3 of a 4 day event. Keep your eye out for the AAR for day 4, a public pistol shoot. :)

This was a great event! It was time well spent. I learned a lot and capping off the weekend with a pistol clinic really helped drive home the instructional points. I had a great time.

ScubaSteve, thanks for making the trek out west to put on this IBC for us! Congrats to Scott for shooting the score!

This was an excellent event. As always, thanks to Skyline HFC for the use of their first class facilities.
Kudos to Maha for shooting score (no pressure ;) ).
And or course, max gratitude to Scuba Steve for flying 4000 miles round trip to instruct at our CPIBC/PIBC! You are the man!
