What a great day to spend with 20 new friends and patriots. Driving to the event this morning TheDestroyer and I were concerned - all we were seeing was air to air and air to ground lightning. But the day broke beautiful as we approached Wells.
We were met on the range by our instructors (neckburn, SchweddyB, and MNWard) and it seemed like half the participants to help setup our shade for the day and the target line.
As stated, we were 20 strong with four instructors so we ran relays which gave the students a bit of a break between strings of fire. Our first hits count showed we had some work to do, so the instructors got to it, teaching the fundamentals and building upon it as the day progressed. Students took in the instruction and then worked to apply it. By mid-afternoon we were ready for the PQT. The first one showed we had a few knocking on the door with scores of 199, 200, 208 and some scores that some didn't want to mention. But we took a break and then hung a second one.
We coached and ran the second PQT. By the end of it, we had minted two new Pistoleer™s - William with a 212 and Ben with a 234. Others improved their scores, but the heat and wind had taken it out of some so we decided to post the final target we shoot - hits count, and then wrap it up. On this one, Ben cleared the final hits count. Overall we saw much progress from the start of the day. Well done all of you.
To each of you - thank you for spending the day with Project Appleseed. It was a pleasure to interact with each of you and to see how well the group chided and encouraged one another. Well done and congratulations to each of you. It would be my pleasure to meet you on another Project Appleseed firing line in the future.
To Wells Rifle and Pistol Club - a huge thanks from the MN crew of Project Appleseed. Thank you for the clubhouse use and for the use of the range. Without your help, we would not have been able to complete our mission. Thank you.
Pictures - or else it didn't happen, right?

Thank you for hosting/organizing and to all the instructors for their help.
I'm glad I was able to knock out the Pistoleer™ patch and hope to see more events closer to home. Central and Western WI seems to be a dead zone for Appleseed this year.
