We Had 21 shooters on Saturday morning eager to learn about their heritage and improve their rifle marksman ship skills. We also had a small army of 17 instructors of all ages & hat colors to help them do so.
As always we started the morning with a redcoat target and right off the bat had one young patriot clear it outright. Congratulations to Chill on showing everyone how its done. The numbers for the remaining redcoats throughout the weekend only improved with a total of 4 others clearing it also.
We managed to to end Saturday with two AQT's under our belts and a high level of excitement to do more of them the next day. All 21 shooters returned Sunday with fantastic attitudes. It paid off in spades as we had two shooters reconfirm the rifleman score and two other other shooters shoot the score for the 1st time. Troy, who is the nephew of Sheepdog180, an up & coming orange hat in the program, shot his first rifleman with a clean 210. He was of course baptized in the waters of the North bridge. And that is no symbolic gesture. The water used was actually collected from the site by Chieflane and brought back to OH for use in this tradition.
As this was a patriots day event, we held the memorial shoot as is tradition. A very brief but powerful message on subject was given by wildbillcody and it really drove home why what we do at Appleseed is so important. On a similar note, everyone who presented history this weekend, from the strikes to the DOMs, did an absolutely fantastic job. Anyone can tell a story, but the passion with witch these story's were told and the props that were used really took it up a few notches.
I want to say thank you to all the instructors who came out to help and thank you to all the shooters who came and participated. With out your willingness to come and shoot and learn, we would have no one to teach. I look forward to seeing all of you on the trail again in the future.
If anyone had pictures from the weekend, please feel free to post them below!
