Title: Flag Display methods
Post by: ChuckA on April 26, 2024, 12:43:58 PM
Good Morning All,

I am interested in seeing any creative ways folks have developed to display the flag set, other then strung out in one long line. Specifically the 3x5 flags.

I have an upcoming Libertyseed/booth at an event, and doubt I will have the necessary yardage to spread a full set, but would still like to display in an appealing way.

 :F

These are the two ideas bounding around my head, a lone vertical pole that can sport 4 flags at 90 degree offset, or more of a horisontal display to hold a set number on individual poles.

Hi Chuck.   I use something that may be better suited for range use than indoors, but it may be worth mentioning. it is cheap, easy to transport, and works well.

You need two pieces of 1/2 inch PVC pipe and a 45 degree elbow. Put the pipe together with the 45 and hang your flag on the top piece.  You can see an example in the background of the attached pic.

You can attach them to a fence post with Velcro from Wal-mart or pound a small piece of rebar in the ground and they will swing on the rebar.

Hope it helps.

Hmm Something like that may work, and I like the lightweight aspect.

Maybe a 4x4 or even a 2x4 with 1/2 holes for the poles and a bit of bracing for indoors, and the rebar for outdoors.

Thanks!

Similar to ScubaSteve's, my display concept was shamelessly stolen from SureShotSpartan back in the day.  There are certainly other ways to do this.

2" OD PVC pipe.
45 degree angle PVC connectors
4' length of rebar

To make:  cut the PVC pipe (5' and 4' sections).  Drill holes thru the PVC to attach the flag with zip ties to the short sections.  White zip ties are basically invisible.

Setup: drive the rebar into the ground.  Slide the base (long pole) over and attach the short (flag pole).

Storage: each piece of rebar stores nicely into each long base.  The flags roll up nicely on the short pieces for storage.

Pros:  Easy to set up.  Reasonably compact.  Resists medium winds.

Cons:  It's heavy.

Thanks! I certainly like the look of the angled poles.

The Indoor/Booth aspect still is a bit perplexing.

A few options for indoors. Make a PVC Base in the same size. You can make them in the 4 flag hold like you were talking about. The other option is to use a metal target stand that use the 1x2 as uprights. Use a 1x1 to fill some of the space so the rebar will stand up.

Both would allow you to use the pvc and flags poles above.

I went with an idea that was borrowed from a couple of different folks.  Ideally, I would like to roll the flags and store them in the larger pipe.  I am not there, but only use this for Libertyseed activities.  I have 2 boards that are the same to give me 12 flags.

Perfect!  That's close to what i have envisioned, but its hard to know if an idea will work.

Many thanks

The tubes are 5' each with the hole down 14".  That gets me inside with 8' ceilings.

Following back up with a "finished product"

Roughly 36 inches, and total foot print is pretty compact which ended up being a big plus since space was tight. Later on I can whip up another set of cross pieces to spread things out a bit more.

I bought a small tabletop set for Libertyseeds.
