This was my first time as an IIT at Appleseed.  I had (almost) as good of a time as I would of if I was shooting.  It was a great experience watching shooters across the board improve every target they shot.  Everyone had a great attitude, and was a pleasure to work with.  Two of my highlights of the weekend were Cowdog's great demo of his rifle and his cousin Wayne, for the for the playing his bagpipes at lunch breaks. Thanks to Carla, Joe, Roger, and Tom for their support, and Larry for the great history lessons.  I look forward to seeing everyone at the Canton shoot later this year.

My first Appleseed as an IIT as well.  I thank arpjoe, dinky, and kdan for their great instruction at Minerva one very wet and muddy weekend last year for turning this old guy into a Rifleman.  I vanquished the old bolt .22 to the gun safe and got a new 10/22, but didn't get to shoot it this time.  Better yet, I shot Rifleman on the two AQTs I was able to shoot with my AR.
Dinky- thanks for giving me a chance to shoot.  :~
I was a bit nervous with the sheer number of newer shooters on Saturday, but wow did things change on Sunday! Dinky, Arpjoe, and Redman1 did an outstanding job with the basics on Saturday.  Everybody on the line gained confidence and by Sunday were shooting very well.
Very nice to meet and work with 74kaak47 and beefree also.
What a great bunch! Thanks for a great time.
Birdman
Yes kdan, it was me with the flying canopy at Minerva :-[

This was my first Appleseed experience & certainly will not be my last!  I attended with hopes of learning rifle skills.  Came away having learned MUCH more than shooting skills.  This weekend I gained friends and expanded my knowledge of this country's founding principles.

It was very encouraging to see the joy and skills of our youngest shooter with his Dad.  Brings back warm memories of time spent outdoors with my Dad.  That's yet another thing seen far too seldom.

Thank you to "Ro6er" for encouraging me to attend & to the whole crew for their time, patience and sharing their knowledge of history and shooting!

Calvin (surveyor, draftsman & now rifleman)

Could somebody post or email me the group picture that was taken?

To the Vienna Instructors:

Each and every personal encounter I had with  you on the line you helped me learn something. Last Wednesday, I shot an AQT at home untimed and scored 185. My last three Sunday scores were 194,203, and 205. This was due to YOUR Help. I am sure I missed somebody, but specifically,

Redman helped with "pulling wood" (and a cant/scope problem that needs further study)
Joe Helped with breathing
Dinky helped with cadence (essential to speed up an old bolt gun guy)
"The young guy with sideburns" (Tom?) and Befree helped with position.

from the perspective of just a guy on the line,  I would also add that we need you guys who made rifleman to come back and help. The ratio of instructors to shooters will make a difference to me and others.

PS: I saw the Vermont shoot  had a piper too. It is a nice touch.

I just want to say that it was a privilege and a pleasure to spend the weekend Appleseeding with you all.  I made it home at 9:45 PM Sunday night, still so wired  I couldn't sleep til midnight.  Thank you Dinky - every time I hear you instructing, I learn something new.  And thanks to the Man-NOT-Grey for the flag stories.  It was fantastic seeing so many women on the line - and an 8 year old, who did fantastic!  Can you imagine how he'll do in 10 years?  Wayne's bagpipes were a wonderful treat and Cowdog's Flintlock Rifle was exactly the kind of history lesson everyone needs.  And thanks again, Redman, for the DQ!  What will you do for a challenge after the FAL?  I hope to see you all up here in MI this year so MI can grow enough Riflemen to crew a team as good as you all are!

Here is a copy of the letter that my Dad (Larry) described to you all on sSunday.  It is self explanatory. If you agree with the things it says, please follow through, and also pass it along to others who may agree.  The more people we have doing this, the greater chance we have for success.  Thanks to all.

BOYCOTT !!!

A Call to Action

Help Me Fight Back Against the Lies, Distortions, Half Truths, and Historical Ignorance of the American Media

I am writing this on the 234th Anniversary of the Day of Lexington and Concord.  I'm mad as hell at the American Media's years of dishonesty and ignorance of Constitutional History, and I'm not going to take it anymore!  I am fighting back as the Citizens of Massachusetts did on April 19, 1775 !  This is my Howard Beale moment (with a nod of the head to Peter Finch).

During the past week I have watched a rude, historically ignorant/ill-educated CNN "reporter ?!!" blatantly lie and verbally abuse a peaceful, non-violent U.S. citizen at the Chicago Tea Party on April 15th - all on a national TV broadcast.  What exactly did this peaceful citizen do to earn this treatment?  He was simply exercising his right to free speech which is recognized and protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2baxw_YScxc&feature=PlayList&p=22D90FD710C733D1&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=29

During the past week I have witnessed Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell appear on numerous NBC TV Networks (CNBC, MSNBC, etc.) and be given free reign to spout a stream of lies, distortions, and half truths as he displayed his ignorance of Constitutional History during his foaming-at-the-mouth attacks on the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/30266124
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036789/#30306454

These are just the latest examples of the many years of blatant Media ignorance of the Constitution, blatant Media lies and dishonesty, and outright Media assaults on American Civil Liberties.  I have had enough!

I'm mad as hell and I am fighting back!  I am going to hit these ignorant truth distorters where it will hurt them - in their bank accounts - to make them sit up and pay attention!

Question: Who owns CNN?  Answer:  Time Warner, Inc.

Question: Who owns NBC?  Answer:  General Electric Corporation.

Question: Who owns ABC?  Answer:  The Walt Disney Company.

Question: Who owns CBS?  Answer:  CBS Corporation.

Question: Who runs these Corporations and permits the ignorance, dishonesty, and attacks on our Civil Liberties which is spewed by their Corporate-owned Media Outlets?  Answer: Their Senior Executives and the Members of their Boards of Directors.  These are not nameless, faceless people who we can only curse and who we cannot influence.  I have, and you can, go to the website of each of these Corporations and see the names, photographs, and biographies of each of these people (see the links below).

Question: Where do these Corporate Media Outlets get their income?  Answer: From the payments which they collect from their advertisers.

Question: What am I doing to fight back?  Answer: I am writing and mailing a personal letter to each and every one of the Senior Executives and Board Members of each of these Corporations (see links listed below).

My letters will tell these men and women, in firm, clear, polite, and non-profane language the following:

1) Your Corporate-owned TV Networks are broadcasting lies, distortions, half truths, and ignorance of Constitutional History to the American People.

2) I am fed-up with your TV Networks' attacks on the American People's Civil Liberties, which are recognized and protected by the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

3) I am immediately beginning an economic boycott of all of your Corporation's products and services - your Corporation will not receive even a single penny of my money starting today.

4) I am immediately urging everyone whom I know to join my economic boycott of your Corporation.

5) I am writing letters to the Executives and Board Members of every Corporation which purchases advertising time on your TV Networks.  I will tell your advertisers that I am boycotting their Corporation's products and services because they advertise on your TV Networks - Networks which are telling lies and attacking the Civil Liberties of the American People.

6) I am immediately urging everyone whom I know to join my economic boycott of your TV Network advertisers.

To YOU reading this Notice, what can YOU do?

Join me in my economic boycott!!!

Write you own firm, clear, polite, and non-profane personal letter to each of these Corporate Officials (see links listed below) and to the Corporate Officials of their TV advertisers.

Tell these Corporate Officials that you are sick and tired of their TV Networks' ignorance, lies, distortions, half truths, and attacks on our Civil Liberties!

Tell these Corporate Officials that their Corporation and their TV advertisers are not going to get your money any longer!

Follow through on your letters and live the Boycott!

Stop buying Disney products.

Stop buying ESPN products and services.
Stop using Disney Internet services.
Stop buying Time Warner products and services.

Stop buying G.E. lighting and electrical products.
Stop buying G.E. toasters, coffee-makers, etc.
Stop buying Simon and Schuster books.
Stop buying from advertisers on the CNN, NBC, ABC, & CBS Networks.

If you live near a Corporate Office of one of these Corporations, take out a permit and stage a peaceful, respectful protest.  Gather your friends who agree with us and picket that Corporate Office - you have the right to do this and the 1st Amendment protects that right.  Use it or loose it!  Gather friends and peacefully picket the homes of these Corporate Officials - protesters are picketing the homes of AIG Officials - we can do the same!

The only way we can get these Media Corporations to change their behavior is to get their attention by hitting them where it hurts - in the wallet!  We don't have to buy their products!  We don't have to buy their advertisers' products!  Buy from the competition instead!  Stop giving these deceitful Corporations your money!  I've stopped giving them mine!

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!  I hope you are too!

Mad as Hell in Ohio

OK, once you stop buying, once you do the boycott thing, can I suggest we do something that will produce permanent positive results?

If you are 100% successful with the boycott - each person/corp boycotted caves and stops doing bias, etc - are you really that much farther along toward what you want?

You can look on boycotts like I look on elections: like the weather, nice today, inclement tomorrow, nice the day after - changeable.

    Let's do some climate change!

    If the boycott is successful:

*Are kids in school being taught about the Revolution - and why it should never be allowed to die?

*Are journalism schools suddenly teaching their students to go forth armed and alert to defend and protect liberty?

*Will politicians be any more honest? Will they have any better understanding of what makes this country great?

*Most important, will the people of this country be any more informed about their history and heritage?

Boycott as much as you like - which should free up a lot of your time - you won't be buying stuff, right? - so put that free time to use, educating your fellow citizens to the history and the heritage.

Don't mistake the boycott - any boycott - to be the final step - it's a mere tip-toe down the path we need to go down.

A great idea - but once you're doing it, focus on Appleseed - waking your fellow Americans. Until that job is done, none of us is safe, including liberty.

The next best thing to being at an Appleseed is promoting Appleseed.

Pass it on. Time well spent.
