Title: New Ruger 10/22 60th Anniiversary
Post by: SteelThunder on January 05, 2024, 04:13:47 PM
Nice to see that the new 10/22 60th Anniversary model keeps most of the aspects of their 50th Anniversary (which was designed by retired-Appleseed instructor mac66) and adds some additional goodies.  Good sights, excellent stock, added extended mag release, easy scope mounting.  Darn near perfect out of the box Appleseed standard rifle

That's a nice looking rifle. I have the 10/22 50th anniversary model; it mostly sits in the safe. I'm eyeing the Ruger 75th anniversary sporter model to set up for RKD. You can get it in the traditional color or the blonde stock. That's the one I have my LGS looking for.

I have been pondering the 75th anniversary model too. The best deal on it that I have found so far is at Kygunco for $321.99 with free shipping. I have bought from them before...

If I find one of those 60th anniversary I'm tempted.  Although I'm trying to let the piggy bank recover after last year.

The 75th Anniversary, where's the barrel band? How does it not being there get handled? Is that what is free float?

Many factory models and essentially every aftermarket stock has no barrel band.  Some are free-floated, some aren't.

The barrel band is not needed and is only on models intended to have the classic look reminiscent of the Ruger Model 44 and the M1 Carbine. It is a cosmetic feature which for the most part hurts accuracy and is one of the first things to go when accurizing a 10/22.

I bought the 60th anniversary for my second Appleseed event, and it really is great.

I love the adjustable Magpul stock that lets you set the length of pull and the cheek height to get a repeatable cheek weld.

Also, Ruger does not advertise it, but the gun comes with a BX trigger. The pull weight is about 2.5 pounds — really nice.

I put a scope on mine, and even though the rifle comes with a nice extended rail, I had to use the rail that came with my scope package from the Appleseed store. The sight channel down the middle of the Ruger rail is too narrow, and the scope contacted the rail with the low rings. The one from Appleseed clears it just barely.

I attached the sling by adding a pushbutton QD sling mount to an M-LOK slot underneath the forend and a second QD cup on the buttstock. You can also add traditional sling studs to hard points you can drill out in the forend and butt.

I highly recommend it!
