What a great weekend for an Appleseed here at the Flagler Gun & Archery Club in Bunnell, Florida. The weather turned out to be quite pleasant until the heavy rain came on Sunday afternoon. The large water puddles were a few inches deep in spots making it uncomfortable shooting in the prone position.
Showing great persistence (and despite the water puddles) Sam cleared the afternoon Redcoat target! As a matter of fact, Sam and Nico stayed on and kept shooting AQTs after we had ended the day's activities. I witnessed Sam's score of 203 and it was his best effort of the day. Nice work Sam.
We started out with 15 shooters Saturday and after implementing the revised "6 Steps of Firing a Shot" program we definitely saw improved groups from all the attendees. Attendance dropped down to 8 shooters on Sunday in anticipation of the rain.
Saturday brought us our first Rifleman with a score of 211. Congratulations Randy! Isaac made it happen on Sunday with a 225. Great job!
Ana and Isaac were having some issues with their equipment but some loaner rifles allowed them to continue on. Ana knocked on the door with a score of 206. Four of the shooters were "Juniors" and it's always heartening to see the younger ones show up for an event. It sort of gives you a sense of hope for the future.
There were others in the hunt too with numbers in the 180s and 190s. Nice going Brittnee, Nico, Ben and Mike. Instructors Bruce and John also requalified during the weekend.
This instructor crew has a combined total of 600+ events that they have attended. As always, a big thank you to 9mm4545 (Bruce), rambo granny (Janet), FLawyer (Glenn), TomM1Thumb (Tom), edree (Ed), GRUNT (Dix), and JC/DC (John).
Most of all, best regards to all the attendees. You are the ones that make all of our efforts worthwhile.

Thanks should go to Pete for running another great event at Bunnell.
Well done to all our attendees on a solid effort. Congratulations to Randy, our latest new Rifleman. Isaac is now well into Rifleman territory with his score (time for him to change his forum name!).
Sunday's weather definitely took us for a spin, as we had three backers blow away in a heavy and windy downpour right in the middle of Stage 1 of an AQT. I certainly didn't have that on my Appleseed Bingo card! But after the rain stopped, we had six attendees left standing (quite literally standing, as it was too wet to lie down) for the final redcoat. 2 of them (Isaac and Sam) eventually did lie down into prone in at least inch deep water. Huzzah!
Terrific students with determination and teachable attitudes!
Thanks AS crew for doing what you do best.
Yesterday was spent drying out gear and getting it ready to go again next weekend so sleep was short changed to get this video finished.
Here's a 3 1/2 minute music video in my Dropbox ( free to view)
