Weather in Iowa can be a challenge. Our annual shoot in Winterset falls on the last weekend of October. This year it was overcast and breezy. Temperatures hovered in the 40s. This was the first cold snap of the upcoming winter.
Our group of shooters took it in stride. They came bundled up and ready to learn. The biggest issue with weather was putting on a loop sling with multiple layers of clothes. We had about 50-50 mix of first timers and Appleseed veterans.
Saturday we were able to watch the groups tighten as they improved. The group was very interactive both during presentations and during our down times. Sunday during the morning review, we could see the group was ready to take on AQT targets. We had 1 new rifleman and 3 re-qualifications with others getting close. This group was a lot of fun to put through the paces.
We had a very experienced group of instructors. This allowed some instructors to get to do some shooting. Joe (Drfury) scored a 243 distinguished score with iron sights.
