Title: AAR Myakka City Fl KD Nov 4-5 2023

This was a great event for all. We had 15 shooters show up on what could be called a little cold of a morning. Yes high 50's is cold.  Many moved out of the shade and into the sun for our first lecture on the three challenges a rifleman has to overcome.   Lots of notes were taken and put to use later on in the day.

From here we went to 25M to make sure we all had a zero and were ready to go the distance. After a bit of shooting, we took some time to learn about range estimation. At 25M event we do talk about it but there is nothing like getting behind your rifle and actually ranging targets. Everybody was able to range 2 targets and all within an acceptable margin of error.   Basically, everybody was close enough on range to make a good hit.  Outstanding!

Due to no access to long distance on day one we shot several stage 1 (100 yard) AQTs to be used on day two before the end of our day.

This was time change weekend, so we started early at 7am to take advantage of all the daylight we could on day two. After a little talking about how to hit a real shingle at 250 yards we gave it a try. 4 of our shooters hit the shingle with a cold bore shot and one of the shooters hit it in standing.  Outstanding work.   Congrats to Dennis, Bryan, Paul, Cole and David. And yes for those that are wondering it was David that hit it standing. Man, he can shoot.

All warmed up, its time to start getting DOPE for all distances. The ShootBoss sounded like a broken record telling everybody how important getting that information was. The shooters listened and all gathered their information. Tape measures were in full use after every course of fire. Now its time to put it to the test.  The storied AQT.  By the end of the weekend we had 8 shooters qualify for the KD patch. 4 of them for the first time with 4 requalifying.   Congrats to  Bryan, David, Tim, Cole, Nathan, Paul and Dennis, Kevin. David shot a perfect 50 out of 50 more than once this weekend.  WOW!

If all that was not enough to make you want to come back the Shootboss reminded us about that "Riflemans Quarter mile" We had access to the full 500 yards so we took that standard come up from 400 to 500 and took shots on steel out to 500 yards.  Every shooter hit the target with the exception of one. That shooter had his equipment fail him as the scope seemed to no longer be adjusting.

Many shooters were right there on the AQTs.   Michael turned in a 38 and a 39.  Ouch needed one more point.   Ben pulled out a 33 without even getting off all his rounds.  Great work.

Hopefully a good time was had by all and we look forward to seeing you on the firing line again soon.
