Appleseed returned to Las Vegas following our summer hiatus due to our oppressive heat.
11 shooters attended, 7 were first time attendees.
We had a father/son pair from Las Vegas and a Grandfather, Father and son grouping from California attend. Grandfather was an oldtime Appleseed rifleman who decided last minute not to be an observer but to shoot.
Temperature was great Saturday, but our typical event wind showed up Saturday afternoon and continued on thru Sunday bringing much cooler temperatures. Wind was strong enough Sunday that shade shelters could not be erected. However in keeping with Appleseed tradition, we persisted.
Even equipment issues didn't stop progress. Scopes, magazine issues, and even rifle changeouts did not impede our shooters.
David S. requalified Saturday with a score of 212, Tyler S. requalified Sunday with scores of 220 and 220. James C. qualified with a bolt action rifle and scored a 210. He escaped the baptism ritual due to wind and a low temperature.
We did a NPOA drill on Sunday using a Halloween Pumpkin pie plate that was a change from the squares. Shooters enjoyed the change ant rose to the challenge.
Thanks to Desert Sportsman Rifle Pistol Club for letting us use a range, and for supplying target frames and backers.
Our last event for 2023 is scheduled for Dec. 9-10. Good time to find out what shooting accessories you need toput on your Christmas list
Huzzah to the new and re-qualified Riflemen! I'm sorry I had to spend both days at work, but grateful to the Instructors who did attend for this weekend's event.
