Title: Norman, OK AAR - Sep. 30-Oct. 1, 2023
Post by: pballer2oo7 on October 01, 2023, 10:04:50 PM
Another great shoot at the Tri-City Gun Club in Norman, Oklahoma (https://tcgc.us/) this weekend.

We had 9 shooters, 7 instructors, and 1 Applecore volunteer at this event. Several board members and staff members of TCGC also stopped by to see and hear what was going on. A great crowd and a ton of excellent progress and discussion. Huge thank you to TCGC for giving up Rifle Range 2 for the entire weekend and for always going above and beyond to facilitate Appleseed events.

We had 2 shooters qualify expert and earn their Rifleman patch. Congratulations Scott and Kyle!

We had 1 Applecore volunteer complete AC-RSO training. We had 1 shooter volunteer to put on a new blue hat to help with the mission. We had 2 instructors earn promotions in the Instructor in Training program toward their red hat. We had 1 shooter volunteer to become an instructor and proudly don a new orange hat. Thank you all so much for stepping up!

The weather was hot, sunny, with a light breeze. Lots of water and lots of hunting for shade during breaks, instruction, and heritage dicscussions. TCGC has offered to perform some range improvement projects specially for Appleseed so that we can spend more time under cover while we're shooting. We are all looking forward to that.

The progress seen on the Hits Count targets throughout the weekend and the scores on the AQTs all show that the fundamentals were well received and diligently applied by all of our shooters. Very well done, all of you.

Great shoot again at Tri-City Gun Club. Thanks Tri-City O0. Safe conduct by all shooters with everyone showing improvement over the weekend. Congratulations to our 2 new Riflemen, Scott and Kyle-great shooting boys. It's nice to know we have more men among us "who know very well what they're about". Kyle, welcome aboard. I'm looking forward to working with you.

As usual, our crew at the Tri-City Gun Club Appleseed event ran everything like a well-oiled clock. Check-in is fast, easy and goes smooth as silk. We had a slightly smaller crowd than we usually have, possibly due to a shorter notice of the event. But that just meant that all shooters had their own dedicated instructor! Yes, it was hot, but, hey- it's Oklahoma. We had two new Riflemen this weekend, and both are now wearing orange hats! We had a flintlock demonstration, and participants were able to fire these amazing hand-made weapons, and experience a bit more of our heritage. Appleseed is such a special learning opportunity, made possible by an all volunteer team, and we can't thank them enough!
