Another great weekend at TCSC in the books! 6 students made the pilgrimage out to be on the line for this one day rifle event on this hot September weekend.
The morning's hits count target showed that there was skill present, but we also had some work to do. The class stayed attentive and soaked up all points of instruction. After our morning of instruction and drills, Catgravity presented a great telling of all three strikes, to which the students were very attentive and asked plenty of questions.
The afternoon's weather forecast was full of thunderstorms, so we shifted into high gear to get at least one AQT in before having to seek shelter. Thankfully, the weather held off for us to get in two AQTs!
Great progress was made by all students present. At the end of the day, I handed out one Rifleman patch to Adam S, who took home that patch with a 230, on a loaner rifle! Great job Adam! Also, I'm proud to have given out William Diamond patches to both of our youth shooters today, Evelyn and Ian. They did absolutely FANTASTIC with their focus and commitment to safety all day today. They're also great students, who saw marked improvement throughout the day!
Dynamic duo Kenneth and Tobias made great strides as well, and I'm confident with more practice you'll be cleaning red coat targets and scoring rifleman in no time.
Bob G. also did very well, but hasn't been able to break through his previous event high score (it was a 200). I'm confident that with some more dry fire practice, or another two day event, you too will earn that coveted patch.
The last redcoat of the day showed significant improvement from the morning, however clearing the target still proved elusive. The heat, humidity, and threats of thunderstorms certainly didn't help with our last course of fire.
I highly encourage you all to practice what you learned with both live and dry fire. Working under the pressure of the clock is something that some practice can also overcome.

I hope to see everyone on the line at a future rifle or pistol event!
