Another great weekend at TCSC in the books! 6 students made the pilgrimage out to be on the line for this one day pistol event on this hot September weekend.
The morning's hits count target showed that there was skill present, but we also had some work to do. The class stayed attentive and soaked up all points of instruction. After our morning of instruction and drills, Catgravity presented a great telling of all three strikes, to which the students were very attentive and asked plenty of questions.
The afternoon's weather forecast was full of thunderstorms, so we shifted into high gear to get at least one PQT in before having to seek shelter. Thankfully, the weather held off for us to get in two PQTs!
Great progress was made by all students present. At the end of the day, I handed out three(!) Pistoleerâ„¢ patches! First up was Paul G., who qualified twice, first with a 219 and then a 226. He may or may not have immediately bragged to his family who are all regulars at MD Appleseed events. Matt - you should've been at this event! :D
Next up was our own Ryan J., an IIT who knows well what he is about. He scored a 227 on his first ever PQT. Huzzah!
Last, but definitely not least, was Ian S. He scored back to back 245s! Yes, two hundred forty five. You read that right. Twice! With irons! Ian, congrats...you now hold the HIGHEST SCORE in MD. Fantastic job!
Everyone made incredible progress throughout the day. Meredith made great strides in speed and marksmanship all day long. Gary W. did fantastic with his Ruger Mk IV (in red, which in my opinion is the best color combo, haha), and I'm confident I would've been giving you a patch if this were a two day clinic. John D. made significant progress as well, scoring better and better throughout the day.
The last hits count target of the day showed significant improvement from the morning, and our own Ryan J cleared it! The heat and humidity certainly didn't help with our last few courses of fire.
I highly encourage you all to practice what you learned with both live and dry fire. Working under the pressure of the clock is something that some practice can also overcome.

I hope to see everyone on the line at a future rifle or pistol event!
