Well, what can I say? It was HOT. The calendar may say September, but it felt like August to us! With the high temp hitting 104, it sure made a difference to the shooters. We have so many new faces to the line, and some old familiar favorites. The instructors were so impressed with the caliber of shooters we had this time, that we were shooting AQTs on Saturday! We had 2 rifleman requalify, and revealed a new Rifleman in Bill! We were happy to see all the shooters score so well on the first day. It was truly impressive. Luis couldn't make it back for the second day, but with open sights on a new rifle, he still impressed us ole' salty sea dogs and I'm sure we haven't seen the last of him. Nick is beating down the door on his patch, and I have no doubt he will get one on the next shoot. Truly a great shooter through and through. RACHEL!! I've known Rachel for quite a while, and I tell you this was her 3rd attempt to achieve a rifleman score. Saturday 206. UGH! Torture for all. Sunday, right out the gate, 222!!!! She has achieved that goal. Not only that, she proved it again with a 216 later that day. We were all so proud. Lucas and David were so impressive on borrowed rifles, that I know I will see them in December and they will patch. Zero doubts about that, and I'm hoping mom comes too! Freddie and Karen will be back in December to claim their patches too. Karen turned in a very impressive score and she is a pretty new shooter! It was a long ride home Saturday in the that truck. But, Freddie came back with a vengeance on Sunday and proved he is a Sharp Shooter, just itching to reach a little higher! Ethan! Being one of the youngest shooters on the line did not deter our young shooter! A Very nice 185 is nothing to sneeze at my friend! I'll see you in December. Alex! The youngest girl on the line. She struggled through challenges with a rifle on Saturday, but she endured. She returned for her revenge on the target on Sunday and turned in a score that she was happy with, but I know she will not be stopped. She will be going to the store and coming home with a brand new hole punch made just to fit her and she will get to pick her color of patch before the end of the year.

What a great event! A big congratulations to all the participants, even those who missed out on a Rifleman score - you should be proud of your efforts, especially in the brutal heat. It's always great to see shooters improve and overcome early challenges. I look forward to seeing everyone on the line again soon.

Based on how much "Fiddy" and Ethan talked about the shoot when they got home it was very apparent you put on a fantastic event and of course wish I could have joined them there myself! Ethan is extremely determined to make score next go around so I suspect I will see him out back practicing on the range with "Fiddy" ;D

Farmer Dave I can't express to you how much I enjoy working with you and your family. Your family is what these shoots are all about. Ordinary Americans doing extraordinary things. You and Ginger should be so proud of what you have accomplished. I'm ready to have another shoot at the farm! This time, Ginger gets to shoot too!
Thanks to everyone involved with running this wonderful weekend. I got home bruised, tired, and sore but I can't wait to show up again in December and try for Rifleman! Third times the charm right? ;D
floridanick it took me 3 times! I know you will be patched before the end of the year. You have the skills. Dry practice at home with a timer. Practice mag changes and shifting NPOA to the timer. SMOOTH is the key. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast! I'll be the Shoot boss again in December at Leesburg. See ya then!
I really enjoyed this weekend's shoot. The shooters all had a great attitude, kept their focus on the next shot and making it better than the previous one. I look forward to seeing you all in the future.
