It was a rainy sunny rainy glorious Summer day at Alderbrook Sportsmens Association in Littleton NH, for our 2023 One-day event.. !5 Motivated Shooters, including three gentlemen who drove all the way from New York State (!), showed up ready to hear history and to shoot! After introductions and the first installment of the history of Partriots Day 1775 - also known as the First (of a total of three)Strike of the Match, we did an extensive Safety brief and then rifles to the line! We got down to shooting our first Redcoat target.
After a group assessment of our skills using that target, the instruction began - we learned the use of a sling as a shooting aid, prone position, Natural Point of Aim (NPOA), the 6 steps of firing the shot including proper trigger manipulation (SQEEEEEEEEZE the trigger, hold it back, then RESET), Talking Targets, Inches -Minutes-Clicks, and the groups proceeded to both shrink in size and center on the point of aim.
Lunch brought the 2nd Strike of the Match, along with a demonstration of a replica, non-firing Brown Bess Musket and bayonet.
Our stomachs satiated, we continued to sight in our rifles, and learned the sitting/ kneeling and standing positions, practiced changing our magazines, and also practiced safe positional transitions. We heard the Third Strike to wrap up our history portion, to rapt attention.
Then we got down to shooting the AQT target for score. Four rifleman were minted, including Chris S. who earned distinguished with scores in the 240s!
Everyone's scores improved dramatically as evidenced by the afternoon Redcoat. Congrats to all - everyone was safe and had a great attitude.
Remember, a Rifleman persists! We hope to see you again at another shoot soon!

The youth shooter attended again and has updated the instructor artwork to include his new red hat. Instructor nhalan also attracts butterflies, as illustrated and photographically recorded.
