Well it was a hot and steamy weekend in Myakka, FL. 5 brave souls decided to take on the challenge, and all 5 persevered through hardships and challenges! The first challenge of the weekend, was to battle the 4 inch deep gully at the target line. We improvised, adapted, and overcame this obstacle and our shooter's feet stayed dry! Next was the HEAT. When Thomas Paine wrote of summer soldiers and sunshine patriots, he did not have Florida summer in mind. Even in the shade we were sweating buckets. The order of the day became hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! When it hit 102, we decided that there would be no more walking back and forth between target line and firing line between courses of Fire. Binoculars became a staple. Then, just because he could, a raccoon I nicknamed Carl, showed up. He made his presence known and cease fire was called. He went over the berm and we considered him gone, and resumed our work. NOPE! Here comes Carl! Walking right onto the range and down the side toward us. He deemed his work necessary. We took it as a sign to hydrate and tell more history. The scores improved! We might ask him to come back at a later date. Our shooters were the best there is. They excelled through it all, and almost earned that most coveted of reward, the Rifleman patch! Tim and Cole. One more event, and it's yours. You were both so close, I look forward to seeing you on the line next time. Bring the duct tape or tattoo. LOL. Mark! Woohoo Mark. Mark started off the weekend with iron sights that gave him a heck of a time. Sunday switched to a scope, and man! That score shot up like a rocket! You will be patched out before you know it! All in all it was a great shoot with some of the finest men I have ever met. I'm proud to have met you all. Till next time, keep up with the dry practice at home!
On a personal note, I received my Green Hat at this event. I have never felt so honored and supported by those that were there to show me the love and support this girl needs. Thank you for that. I will be forever grateful for you all being so kind in that moment.

CONGRATULATIONS Shelly on your green hat!!!!!!!
Sounds like a great event. Can't wait to work with you again soon!
CONGRATULATIONS on the green hat and THANKS for stepping up.
How do you think Carl would look with a blue hat?

Hey Shelly, You're definitely rockin' that Green Hat! Great job everyone! It's a good sign when the AAR doesn't mention EMTs with the heat index so high.
Congrats to everyone!

Carl the Hydration reminding Racoon.
You go girl. Congratulations>
Thanks guys! It was a super fun event, and Carl definitely needs a Blue Hat!!!
I hear that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You should be quite a bit tougher after a Florida Summer Infernoseed. The Green Hat always fits better after it has been soaked in sweat, right? Seriously, major congratulations to you on a well deserved promotion.
