Title: Coshocton, OH AAR Aug 26-27, 2023
Post by: Doc Willi on August 29, 2023, 06:41:08 PM
What a wonderful weekend. The weather was great and we had a line full of eager shooters with great attitudes.
We started the weekend off with history and safety instruction before shooting our first Redcoat target.
After that we moved onto instruction and drills. We moved onto seated and standing positions as we shot our first AQT.
Luke was the first to make rifleman with a 211.
Throughout the day, we heard about the three strikes of the match.
We ended the day with another Redcoat in which there was good improvement.
Sunday morning, everyone showed up ready to go. We reviewed the safety and then the positions and the six steps of firing the shot along with Natural Point of aim.
We then shot a Redcoat with even more improvement from Saturday.
The instructors then worked with the shooters on carding the sights drills and ball and dummy drills.
After that, we started shooting AQTs. Luke reconfirmed his rifleman with a 215. David and Josh also reconfirmed their rifleman with David getting a 221 and a 216, and Josh getting a 224.
At lunch we heard stories about dangerous old men and dangerous ladies. the shooters then got an introduction to known distance.
After lunch, we continued with AQTs and had a fun shoot where teams tried to obliterate the dreaded TV.
On the last AQT of the day, Dawn and Jenna both got their rifleman, with Jenna at a 212, and Dawn at a 214.
There were many shooters that were very close, and I encourage all of you to practice your skills, and to come out again (Persistence).
We finished with a final Redcoat. All of the shooters got their three rounds in the 100 yard target, and their was great improvement in all the targets.
This was such a fun weekend, and I hope to see everyone at an Appleseed again.
I want to thank Coshocton Gun Club for hosting the event, and thank all of the instruction team for such a great job.

I had a great time being a student for the first time in a year. Many thanks to the instructors who put this on and to the Coshocton Gun Club for being such a great host!

Btw, what happened to the picture of me "napping?"
