What a fantastic weekend for Appleseed at Central Ohio Coon Hunter's Association!
We were joined by 15 shooters eager to put their skills to the test and earn the Rifleman Patch. We had several returning students that brought family with them. The weather was better than the forecast as we were expecting rain and did not have any during the event!
We started Saturday with 3 cleared Red Coat targets! That was repeated Saturday afternoon. By Saturday afternoon we had at least 3 requalified Rifleman! On Sunday we started with 2 cleared red coats and ended with 4 cleared red coats! One of the cleared red coats Sunday afternoon was done from the seated position! By the end of Sunday we had several requalified rifleman, 2 new Rilfeman and a new Distinguished Rifleman!
Congratulations to new Rilfewoman Kay who scored a 218! And to new Rifleman Jake! Jake is the definition of persistence; he has attended 4 previous Appleseed events, put in several hours dry-firing and live firing for practice. This weekend it all came together for him; he scored a 211 earning him the Rifleman patch! He followed that score up with confirmation of a 218! Persistence and practice pays off! Jake has also decided to join Appleseed as an Applecore Volunteer!
Returning student Drake earned a Distinguished patch this weekend with a score of 245! Congratulations Drake!
Congratulations to our requalifying Rifleman: Dave with scores of 230/231/229, Josh with 222/214/213, Edgar with 230/221/214, Brad with 220/226/237 and David 210/218/219!
We had several youth shooters that persisted and improved throughout the weekend! Nathan at his first 2-day event showed great improvements and pushed through being on the line next to an M1; Peter and Ian at their first event and started to greatly improve by the end of Sunday; Gunner who was pushing through and making great improvements over the weekend; and Alex who has attended a couple events, trying to practice and improve who, by the end of Sunday had definitive groups on target!
It was great seeing the improvement of all of the shooters during the weekend! Keep working to improve! Dry fire and live fire practice will pay off at your next event! We look forward to having you back!
