Title: Muenster, TX AAR July 22-23 2023

Another great shoot at the Muenster (Gainesville) range in north Texas!

The north Texas crew was excited to try out the latest-and-greatest Project Appleseed course of fire, and we're pleased to report that it went off with nary a hitch  O0  The focus on dry firing and a general emphasis on walking before running showed very positive results on paper.  Most of the attendees were first-time guests, and clearly demonstrated excellent groups right from the get-go.  Throughout the first day participants heard the story of April 19 1775, and (we hope) left with a clearer understanding of why the second amendment is every bit as relevant today as it was in the days of our forefathers.

Speaking of brave - that late-July sun in Texas is no joke.  Saturday wasn't too shabby with a high of 98.  Sunday was an extra special challenge though - the weather forecast called for a high in the mid 90s, and the shoot boss has decided that they must be sadly mistaken or lost.  With a high of 104 in the shade, the shoot boss started wondering if ignorance isn't bliss and whether he didn't make a grave mistake by bringing a temperature gauge  :slap:

Nevertheless, our brave participants came back for some more chances at the famous Project Appleseed AQT, and were treated to some stories of individual heroism from some dangerous old men and some brave women - people that had no expectation to step up, but did so anyway and made all the difference.

Lunch time brought some much desired relief in the air-conditioned classroom, where we talked about the Project Appleseed Pistol Clinic program before diving into a discussion around some of the world-famous Project Appleseed Known Distance techniques - target detection, range estimation and making the shot at variable distances.  Project Appleseed is very fortunate to have access to the Goin Firearms and Shooting range, where we can host pistol clinic events, 25 meter rifle events and known distance rifle events all at the same location.

A special "thank you" to our four youth (under-18) participants for coming out.  We got to hear about William Diamond, and the important role that fifers and drummers played in the shaping of our nation.  Each one left with an official certificate, and left us with hope for the future of our nation.

A special congratulations to Bethany for earning rifleman for the first time, and to Adam for re-qualifying.  I suspect that a little sibling rivalry might have had a little something to do with those scores  ;)

A sincere "thank you" to all of the instructor cadre that made this a success.  Flighttime & Slash, thank you for coming out and helping even when you can't make the entire weekend.  It makes a difference.  ScottInTX, you accomplished everything needed to advance and you did it with style - and even got a head start covering one of the strikes!  Great job!  Helaman, I'm glad that you had a chance to practice for that future coveted red hat.  I'm always glad when you're able to come out.  Mrakestraw - dude, you rock.  Thanks for helping make the events at this range a success.

Finally - to all of our participants, thank you for coming out    .  You're the reason that we do what we do, and we hope that we were able to help you leave better patriots and marksmen than when you arrived.  We truly hope to see you again soon!

Here's hoping August is a bit cooler!
