Title: Charlottesville VA AS July 8-9, 2023
Post by: OddsREven on July 13, 2023, 01:01:32 PM
Great shoot, miserable weather (hot & humid) Saturday.  We shot indoors Sunday due to predicted thunderstorms. We had 13 shooters with a mix of skill levels. It was exciting to see two Redcoats cleared Saturday morning right off the bat. One shooter cleared all Redcoats he shot.  A father and son each cleared the last Redcoat of the weekend. One shooter shot a personal best on a bolt action Tikka at 236, just 4 points from a Distinguished Patch with a boltie! One shooter claimed a Rifleman patch on the first AQT of the shoot with a score of 211. He scored this even with two "5" being dropped because he had "help from a neighbor". Another shooter shot Rifleman on the first AQT the following morning with a 216. Congrats to all.
We also promoted one of our Orange Hats. He did a great job while meeting the IIT 3 requirements. Many thanks to all for your attention to safety and your persistence in the face of the heat/humidity.  HOOZAH! great job all!!  Special thanks to Old Dominion Iron for the pics.

While the Virginia weather was a challenge, it was a great event!

All of the participants came with a learning attitude and improved their skills with each drill. Even with the oppressive heat on Sat. I didn't see anyone "check out" - I saw smiles and determined faces. I hope to share a range with you all again!

As always, I have to thank the Virginia AS cadre for providing a safe, educational and fun event at our gun club!

Stay Vigilant,
Messer
