Another great weekend at TCSC in the books! 4 students made the pilgrimage out to be on the line for this one day rifle event on this hot July weekend.
The morning's hits count target showed that there was skill present, but we also had some work to do. Steve came close to clearing that first target, but that shingle is elusive! The class stayed attentive and soaked up all points of instruction. The first and second strikes were presented with great flair by Off_paper and k3, to which the students were very attentive and asked plenty of questions.
The afternoon brought thunderstorms, so we shifted gears for Agent711's fantastic telling of the 3rd strike in the clubhouse.
After the thunderstorms, great progress was made by all students present. Bob came oh so close on the first (and only) AQT of the day with a score of 200! Creighton also came close, even with having equipment malfunctions - his charging handle sheared off of the bolt of his rifle. None of our instructors had seen a failure quite like that one! Simon, one of my repeat students, also showed great perseverance through the heat and all the transitions. Steve also showed that he knew well what he is about, with a solid (and quiet) showing with his integrally suppressed 10/22.
The last redcoat of the day showed significant improvement from the morning, however clearing the target still proved elusive. The heat and humidity certainly didn't help with our last course of fire.
I'm confident that I would've been handing out many Rifleman patches if we would've had more time for more AQTs. I highly encourage you all to practice what you learned with both live and dry fire. Working under the pressure of the clock is something that some practice can also overcome.

It was a great event for me to practice IMC for the first time in front of an audience and learn about equipment and sling IAO ! I was rooting for Agent711 with his peep sights.
