Title: Bonfield, IL June 10-11, 2023
Post by: ITB on June 13, 2023, 07:37:31 PM
What a great weekend we got to spend with some great families!

We had 17 shooters join us at the ISRA range 10.  Most of the shooters were three families, and we had nine wonderful young Americans on the line.  Huzzah for the next generation!

Saturday was sunny and warm, and we dove right in with the Redcoat and then some solid points of instruction.  The weather got a bit warm in the afternoon, leading to some lethargy.  Yeah, you Southerners can stop laughing now.

All but one made it back for Sunday and we ran through a bunch of AQTs and some other drills like carding the sights and ball and dummy.

At the end of the day, we saw a lot of improvements over the weekend.  We had many novice shooters showing great improvement.

Tom shot a Rifleman score, volunteered to step up and take an Orange Hat, and then proceeded to shoot a 244 on an AQT to earn the Distinguished patch.  Huzzah!

Son Tommy couldn't let his dad get all the accolades, earning his Rifleman patch Sunday afternoon.

Thanks to everyone that came out.  I'd like to call out a few shooters...

Charlene - you were a sight to behold - always dryfiring during prep, just about perfect form - a little persistence (and remembering to follow through  &) ) and you'll have that Rifleman patch in no time!
Greg and Bonnie - you guys showed great improvements.  Greg, sorry your back got the best of you.  I hope we see you both again at a future event!
Tom - thanks for stepping up to take the Orange Hat.  That was some great shooting you did.
Tommy - youths can be instructors, too.  I've got an Orange Hat for you if you're willing!

Thanks to the instructor crew - Rangerat67, Pookie, Fidget and Sailor.  You guys made my job easy.  History, points of instruction, running the line - you guys had it covered.  My sincere appreciation.

On with some pics....

What an incredible weekend it was, filled with outstanding instructors and amazing students! Even though rain at events is usually a bummer, we welcomed and embraced the rain we got this time. It had been nearly three weeks since our last rainfall, and it added a refreshing twist to the experience.

I must say, this event was a true success, and it's all thanks to our exceptional students!

Li, Charlene, Zhou, and Steve, you are all doing an outstanding job. Keep pushing yourselves and getting to know your rifles even better because you've got what it takes!

Tommy and Thomas, fantastic work! I can't wait to see both of you conquering the AS trail with your skills and determination.

Greg and Bonnie, keep up the fantastic work you're doing! Your dedication and commitment are truly inspiring.

To Steve, Rebecca, Melody, Sophia, Grayson, Alyssa, Tim, Nathan, and Elyse, having two close-knit families present at the event was absolutely awesome. The energy and joy the kids brought to the event added an extra level of fun. The adults did an incredible job, finding the perfect balance between their own rifleman work and supporting their children. It was a delight to witness two such wonderful families come together.

To all the students, I genuinely hope to see each and every one of you at another event in the near future! Your enthusiasm and determination are contagious, and I know you all have the potential to achieve great things. Keep up the fantastic work and continue to pursue excellence in all that you do!
