What a great day outside with my fellow patriots! BIG Thank you to the always supportive Marion Road Gun Club and Club President, Kyle Turner.
The day began earlier for some than others. Upacreek was on the road at 4! (Looks like a bug on her windshield also went to bed about that time, ;D )

She picked me up at 5 and we headed south. We arrived at 7:15 at the range to greet the sun.

We had 6 stalwart shooters arrive for the one day Pistol Clinic and the weather could not have been better. Of course to frame the day correctly we began with some history. Captain Parker was on hand to relate the First Strike of the match.

We jumped right into the Safety Briefing. After that Pistols were retrieved, we did some 1 on 1 Pistol familiarization. Some shooters appeared to struggle with the slide so I quickly went over Mass Grip and racking the slide.

Then, the Hits Count target was engaged. :~ We then jumped quickly into Instruction. We began with Grip & Stance before performing a dry fire exercise to check grip and stance with recoil mimicked by pressing on the shooters hands. We went over Eye Dominance and then did a Draw and Fire Exercise incorporating Close Retention, Driving Out, and Low Ready. Next, we did another dry-fire exercise working on Close retention, Driving Out, going to Low Ready, back to Close Retention (X5).
Upacreek instructed us on the 6 Steps of Firing the Shot. Then we discussed NPOA and Trigger recapture. Finally we brought it all together and went live with some target shooting. This allowed us to move into Talking Targets. Before moving further we went through a couple malfunction drills. Tap, Rack, Bang and Rip, Rack, Bang. Everyone always enjoys these.
We then learned Mag Changes and Target transitions and did an exercise on that for a while. Then it was time for Lunch where Upacreek entertained us with the Second Strike of the Match.
With bellies full we jumped back into things with a Trigger Recapture Drill. Next up was Controlled Pairs and Double Tap Demo followed by a Controlled Pair exercise.

Feeling pretty sharp with 2 hands it was time to mix it up with some One Handed Shooting.

Finally we slowed things down with some Slow Fire before taking a break to hear the Third Strike from Birnf31.

Refreshed, it was time for the PQTS!!! We were able to get 3 PQTs in.

When the white smoke of hundreds of pistol shots cleared, a visiting IIT from Florida, Daniel, showed he was a man that knew what he was about. He shot a 211! and then followed it up with a 223! At his first Pistol clinic I should add! Well done sir!

We closed out by shooting another Hits Count target, discussing the Onion of Self Defense, and hearing the story of Sam & Sam. Everyone graciously stayed behind to clean up and some even joined us for dinner.
Thank you to all the shooter and Instructors! If you didn't score Pistoleerâ„¢ this weekend, keep practicing what you learned and you will get there. I hope to see you all on the line again soon.
In Liberty,
Roswell
P.S.
If you have pictures please post them. I didn't have any so I stole them from Upacreek. **) Thanks by the way!
Looks like you had another great pistol clinic out at Marion Road! I wish I could have joined you all again. I learned so much the first time!
