Title: Shooting jacket
Post by: LadyRimfire on June 06, 2023, 06:28:55 PM
Hey folks....

Looking for a good shooting jacket. Nothing fancy. Just one to perform what I need. I recall seeing a post somewhere on the forum of a lady that made them but can not seem to find that post/thread again. Can anyone help me out, please? TIA ;)

I believe that the lady you are referring to is Mary, who has undergone some name changes, which may be why you have had trouble locating the information.  She used to go by the name madebymcron, but I believe is currently going under "not so standard issue"

FWIW, Creedmore Shooting Sports sells a variety of shooting jackets including a deluxe canvas jacket for about $150. https://www.creedmoorsports.com/product/deluxe-canvas-shooting-coat/shooting-coats (https://www.creedmoorsports.com/product/deluxe-canvas-shooting-coat/shooting-coats)I have one and it is well made and as comfortable as any. The ventilation panel option (which I should have ordered!) is a desirable option, at least here in Florida. The company can make some modifications to improve fit such as sleeve length and are very responsive to a shooters needs. The slip resistant elbow, sling, and shoulder pads really help with maintaining a solid position. A jacket is certainly not necessary for Appleseed but, if you're going to use one, you could do a lot worse than one of these.

Thank you for sharing. I do other shooting sports that I would like the jacket for. Agreed, not necessary for Appleseed, but doesn't hurt either.  ;D

I also have a stack of patches stuck in my range bag. Itbwould be nice to have a jacket to sew and display them on.
