Title: Kenmore, WA, April 29-30, 2023 Rimfire KD AAR
Post by: Prescott on May 02, 2023, 01:28:09 PM
It was a great weekend for the second Rimfire KD at the Wildlife Committee of Washington range in Kenmore, WA.   The weather was unseasonable warm on Saturday (which I personally loved) but returned to normal on Sunday (which the natives loved).

The WCoW range is an ideal location for a Rimfire KD event, as it provides a very nice classroom and a great range out to 300 yards.  Each morning the day started with some classroom time to discuss the ballistics of shooting out to distance.   The students were very attentive to these discussion, and were able to put this information to use on the range.  Both internal ballistics and external ballistics were discuss as well as environmental factors that affect external ballistics.   The students needed to make some environmental corrections over the weekend, as the high on Saturday was 81 and was closer to 60 on Sunday.   This should result is a correction of 1 MOA due to the increased density of the cooler air.

Congratulation to the new Morgan's Riflemen.   On Saturday; Aaron and Ian hit the shingle at 125 yards.  On Sunday; Ying, Cory, Eric Curtis, Alan and Michael all hit the shingle.

Congratulations to the New Rifleman and KD Rifleman.  On Saturday; Tristan shot his rifleman score and Ian, Ying and Cory shot their first Rimfire KD rifleman scores.   On Sunday; Kevin shot his rifleman score and then backed up the accomplishment with a second Rifleman score.  Also on Sunday; Daniel shot his first Rimfire KD Rifleman score.   A big HUZZAH to all these marksman!

For those that did not shoot their Rifleman score remember that the KD event for developing your come ups and learning skills to shoot at distance.   The standard 25 meter events are the place to help learn perfect practice for your marksmanship skills.   There are still plenty of 25 meter events that can be attended prior to the next Centerfire KD event in Eatonville (July 29/30) and the next Rimfire KD in Kenmore (Sept 23/24).   The other opportunity for perfect practice is to dry practice at home.   By focusing on all of your marksmanship skills on the comfort of your living room carpet, you can fine tune your 6 steps, SHFs and NPOA acquisitions and shifts.

Hope to see you all at another AS Known Distance event.
