This was a private event held at Pasture life farms and what a great event it was. Saturday morning started with a surprise happy birthday to David Jr. He turned 18 last week so he finally made it to the age to attend a pistol event. Why not have it at his house. :) it was a cold morning in North Fl starting out at 37 but that did not hamper any of our shooters. We started out slow working on the fundamentals of pistol shooting. As the day progressed, we dug into the details and worked on the finer points. By the end of day one we had expended almost 300 rounds and the scores on the PQT showed that the time spent that morning was well spent.
We had scores ranging from 138 to 240 on the first PQT of the weekend. The 138 was with a 40 caliber and the 240 was with a target 22, Recoil is real, and it showed.
We started day two much warmer and all were ready to go. Our shooter that turned in a 240 on the PQT with a 22 target pistol turned it in and grabbed his 357 magnum wheel gun to challenge himself. He shot extremely well but with no speed loaders for that pistol he struggled with reloads. That said he still turned in a high score of 207 with a wheel gun. Outstanding work. He switched to a 9MM semi auto and made score with a 220 so all was OK. :)
Everybody did great. Two shooters made a 210 or better. Davd Jr and Dave sr. Several others were right there with scores in the 180s and 190s but just could not get over the hump to get to 210. Note most were shooting center fire so good for them!.
Great job by all and take what you have learned and practice it. Next time 210 or better will be easy.
Outstanding weekend! Couldn't ask for a prettier day on Sunday to be honest. Saturday morning was chilly with most of us in 2 jackets, but warmed up to t shirt weather by Saturday afternoon. I was so happy to be a part of this shoot this weekend. It's been a long time coming. Thrilled with the shooters, they made this event a pure joy. Don't even get me started on the food. I will forever hear turkeys gobble when we yell "Load". LOL Great shoot, even better shooters with teachable attitudes. Huzzah!
This past weekend was simply beyond enjoyable. I have never been to an Appleseed event where the instructors didn't pour their hearts into the weekend of instruction. It was an honor to host this event and I really want to Thank Shelly & Mario for brain-childing this surprise for David Jr's 18th birthday and of course Steve & Denise, Dennis, and Michael for making this happen! I am always grateful for how much you all collectively give to the rest of us.
I am still coming down off the weekend high and David Jr. was not only surprised (a feat in itself) but blown away!
On behalf of myself and family, we are extremely thankful for this wonderful community that we are blessed to be apart of!
Thank you!
Dave
Gwarsh you're making us blush.. I can't wait to call you a Orange hat instructor and have you enjoy it from the other side of things. It is so rewarding to see someone progress and grow in self confidence. I think Dave Jr. Just needs a little more practice with his shooting and he will get there.. ;D seriously he makes all look so good with the way he shoots. You are no slouch either my friend. You blew me away with your shooting and your hospitality. Can't wait to do it again. Next time let's do rifles and get more family out on the line. Huzzah!
Hey Dave Jr. and Sr. Sorry I missed this Shoot! I think it is time for one or both of You to ask for a Hat, either Blue or Orange.
Hope to see You both soon.
Alright PirateGirl - you twisted my arm ðŸ˜, - I will take an orange hat at the next shoot. Does that turn yours green? ðŸ˜
Dave
Tom,
There will definitely be future shoots! I suspect we will go rifle next time around and of course you are always welcome!
Dave
Dave, I do not think PirateGirl's Hat will turn green for the next event, But I think She will make a GREAT Shoot boss one day soon!
