We had a sold out event with a really great group of Trail Life members.

Thanks Patrick for getting it setup.

And thanks BillJac, RichardJones, Captain, & SafetymanTX.

SafetymanTX is one of our new IITs. I threw him in the deep end of the pool and had him do a bit more than the average IIT since I knew he was capable. He did a good 2nd strike and told some DOM stories. I see a RedHat in the near future.

Just seeing these young men gives me hope for the future. I know I say this every time I do an event with TL but it's true. These are old school kids. Respectful, kind, and with a fantastic attitude.

It was pretty cold Saturday. Woke up to 24 degrees. It was only supposed to be 32 but boy was the weatherman wrong this time. And with the breeze - brrrrr. Yeah I know you guys up north think that's nothing but for us Texas boys it's cold as the north pole. It was pretty cool all day. But hey we're riflemen right and of course we persist. So the cold didn't put a damper on anything and we had so much fun that after awhile you don't even notice it much.

However Sunday was beautiful. It warmed up to around 70 degrees. Perfect for a shoot.

And Sunday was off to a good start. Before the Appleseed portion of the day started one of the Trail Life leaders had a really nice church service . It was very heartfelt. And they performed a song called Father Abraham. At least I thinks that's what it was called. I'm glad that they can all sing better than me. lol.

And with the can do attitude of the kids and the fact they were willing to learn of course made for a big improvement in rifle skills. We only got 1 rifleman out of the group but a bunch were knocking on the door. A pic of the scores will show that. Heck the last redcoat of the day had 10 out of 25 get Morgan's Shingle. Pretty impressive. Especially considering that only 3 got the shingle Saturday morning. Those 3 had already been to an Appleseed though.

And it was great that we all had a good time. Lots of smiles to go around.
