Title: laser dry fire cartridge for .223
Post by: Aliquippa on January 24, 2023, 03:09:57 PM
Anyone have experience with these? Have one for my 9mm handgun and the practice with it really helped improve accuracy for my defensive handgun drills.

They work for AR15 .223/556 rifles as well?

I have one for my 9mm handgun as well. It works good, but you have to rack the slide every time. The AR ones are the same. I recommend the Mantis BlackbeardX. It resets the trigger for you so you don't have to break your position every time. Also, it connects to your phones and gives you tons of data and has a bunch of drills already loaded like USMC Qualification, etc.

I heard that from another source too. I love my SIRT pistol. But for rifle the Mantis Blackbeard is the way to go. I think you'll be happy.

I'm digging the Blackbeard.

Reminder:  Appleseed Instructor discount for MantisX products is still active (Thanks Tennessee Beast!)  :)

It just doesn't work well.  EZ3 has one and is displeased with it and have heard this from others.  The SIRT pistols are excellent.  I believe the issues with the SIRT bolt lead to the dummy rifle like thing you put a SIRT pistol in.  This was after stringing customers along about a new SIRT bolt for some time.

Karl at the "Tactical Rifleman" YouTube channels has a good video on the Blackbeard.

There is only one bad thing about the Blackbeard...you're going to want a trigger with a warranty and I'd advise you to keep some track of the cycle count on the trigger. I'm not an AR guy...but it made me one sort of. The thing I didn't realize is that I had 65k cycles on a trigger that is supposed to change springs every 5k cycles. I'll leave it at it became non-functional when I took it out to shoot live fire recently. Buy spring kits and God Bless Geissele.

That's a great point. I use timney which thankfully also has a lifetime warranty.  O0
