We had our second Appleseed at El Paso Community College over the weekend.
Great news and bad news.
Bad News First
Of the 18 people signed uop for the shoot only 7 bothered to show. Reallt unhappy about ti because 4 of them were returning shooters that I had thought were fired up. :'(
Good news
Of the bunch we made 2 new riflemen. One is Mr Persistence himself. Mateo finally made rifleman after 3 Appleseeds and he is taking up the orange. This is one dedicated Rifleman folks. The best kind and like I said a month or so ago , a Giant with a rifle. Our other Rifleman was a lady who shot with us last month and she did it bigtime. Right handed with a domimant left eye, she smeared her left lens with goo to obscure the vision and force the right eye to work.
Work it did and a 213 was the result(she has the same good opinion of the 795 that I do so she's special). Taking the hat too. Her husband was with us too and he will make Rifleman next go (but life in that household will be tense for a while ;D)
Here is the really good stuff.
Every one else on the line was rapping on that door. The worst of the lot shot a 182. One AQT the shooter ran a 175 and that was with 6 shots not fired on stage 2. BTW 5 were from New Mexico. Mrs Mateo is a fine shot adn his father in law will come shoot with us in Albuquerque in June.
A sad (because of so few) shoot in one way but a great finish with some fine awake aware Americans who take their rifles seriously.
Funfaler came in for the weekend, TaosGlock and Bluefeather came down Sunday evening and we did a 4 hour session in Dennys. Got fed and had a great time.
You haven't heard a good converse without you spent 4 hours with them. Appleseed has the BEST people.
Life got pretty bad for a while when someone "stole my car", but it got better when the waitress made the mistake of asking "what's that RWVA stuff on your hat about". Grabbed her red pen and a napkin, we get her at an Appleseed O0

Bravo Mateo!! When I hear the word "persistence" Mateo comes to mind. And an orange hat too! The instructor corps is going to be much better for his help.
We would be proud to have Mateo on our line anytime... whenever, wherever. He epitomizes persistence with grace. He is certainly a man who knows what he is about. Now, just get him on the forum, so we can invite him to our shoots!
BlueFeather
Congrats Mateo! Way to persist with that AR! And congrats on the Orange Hat! O0
This pic of WestTx and Mateo (one of my favorites) from our EP shoot last Oct. Both are riflemen!
