We wanted a center-fire clinic ahead of the upcoming KDs at Palm Bay and Myakka to allow those attending the KD an opportunity to brush up on their skills with a centerfire rifle. The one-day abbreviated COF seemed to be just the ticket. All the required learning objectives were met except Ball & Dummy which was skipped because the Shootboss forgot the dummy rounds. It's hard to pretend with an AR. All but two of the students were AS alumni so instruction went quickly and there was still plenty of time for individual coaching and shooters bonding with their ARs. Three AQTs were offered and three shooters qualified for the first time with a centerfire. David (224) and John (223) had fearned their Rifleman patch at the smallbore Appleseed last weekend. Jun joined them with a 229 at his first Appleseed. He was a collegiate shooter years ago so it only took him a few rounds to get the hang of the AQT. We worked hard and the weather allowed us to enjoy ourselves. Thanks to all those who came out, I now have a baseline for future one-day centerfire clinics.
