Small in number but great in spirit! That is how best to describe the latest one day 25M shoot at Red Brush Rifle Range near Evansville, IN.
We had only two shooters on the line, both of whom had previously earned their patches, with an instructor staff of five! So it was the perfect opportunity for some one-on-one coaching as both progressed towards their goal of earning the Distinguished patch. And they made significant progress towards that end.
Matt who had some equipment issues at a prior event came with a rock solid setup. And with some improvement in steady hold factors and trigger control, he gained 13 points versus his previous best! Nice job!
Jay saw similar improvement and by the end of the day was knocking on the door for that distinguished patch with two AQTs in the 230s, just shy of earning the DP with a scoped rifle. If it wasn't for an ammo mishap earlier in the day (somehow a box of low power ammo got mixed in with standard velocity so shots went low!) he may have made it!
History was a treat with IITs Jayshoneybunny and WilderMars doing two of the strikes of the match and continuing their progress towards red hats. Great jobs! And all the instructors had the opportunity to requalify.
All in all a great time. Thanks to everyone who participated. I look forward to seeing you on the line for the next shoot.

I had a great time and this was another excellent training that was worth the trip from the Indy area. It's nice to have Rifleman patches in both the tan/flat dark earth (earned at the June event) and green color options now too.
