We seldom have the opportunity to offer a Rimfire Known Distance event at Palm Bay. This past weekend's event leaves me encouraged to schedule these shoots whenever possible. It was a great success. Ten of fourteen shooters qualified for the coveted Rimfire KD rocker. Of them there were two new Riflemen and two distinguished shooters. Four other shooters scored within four points of the required 40/50. There are three main objectives of the KD: Understand trajectory & wind, know where your holes will appear, and earn the KD Rocker. Everyone seemed pleased with the event. Even those who didn't score felt they had learned a lot.
The time monkey never showed his ugly head and the weather was favorable, while hot and muggy, and at times windy. Storm fronts were all around us all weekend but didn't strike until we had packed up for the day Sunday. There were times when the wind was good news and bad. The shooters welcomed the breeze as relief from the near inferno-seed level but found that it could blow those little 40gr bullets sideways three inches at 100 yards! That's what shooting at distance is all about.

It was an outstanding event, and the weather, while hot, never truly interfered with the shoot. Everyone came with a great attitude and ready to learn, and it showed.

A VERY hot and humid weekend for sure but what a fantastic shoot!!! All of the shooters came with a great desire to learn and it showed with the amount of rockers earned. A big shout out to TheMenace for leading us and always being the fountain of knowledge and information. Excellent job on the history by MyNameIsEarl, EpicQuilter, Evil_G and Sieggie, always one of my most favorite parts of the weekend.
Thanks to TheMenace for hosting the Rimfire KD, EpicQuilter for tracking our scores [name goes top left] and everyone else who provided instruction and history, that was a great weekend! It was HOT... 4th circle hot, but everyone persevered and the weather cooperated. All your volunteer efforts are greatly appreciated! Thanks to Port Malabar for giving up the smallbore range for an entire weekend, too. Looking forward to the KD next month.
What a great weekend and way to celebrate history and fellowship! I am pleased to see all of the improvements in our shooters. While some are still chasing Rifleman, their persistent nature will get them there.
History is my favorite and I enjoy learning more about the birth of our great nation. Thanks to all who presented and to our gallant Shoot Boss TheMenace. Until our next meeting; stay safe stay free.
