Dry firing my 10/22, stop pin started working out of bolt. So I knocked it out of bolt just to check.
Turns out the Roll pin had broken into several pieces.
Cautionary tell of what could happen from dry fire.
Just be aware.

First time I've heard of that failure. Good on ya for catching it.
The roll pin is a common part, available at your favorite hardware store for maybe $.32
Or you can order one from Ruger for $2 plus $6 shipping.
Interesting. I do a lot of dry fire and have not had that issue crop up. Ruger has excellent customer service. If you fill out the contact form online and describe what happened, they will mail you a new one free of charge. I lost the wave washer that goes behind the muzzle protector on a Mark IV tactical and they just sent me another one.
The pin would work out and scrape the spring, after a few cycles return to position. Have ordered 100 from Granger.
